Jewelry Restoration: Preserve a Legacy
Jewelry is more than adornment—it’s a connection to the past, often carrying the stories and love of those who came before us.
Over time, these treasured heirlooms can begin to show signs of age. Tarnished metal, chipped gemstones, and delicate settings worn down from generations of wear can dull the beauty of even the most meaningful pieces.
At Takohl, we understand the emotional and historical significance of these items.
Our jewelry restoration services are designed to honor their legacy while returning them to their former brilliance. Whether it’s an intricate vintage piece or a family heirloom handed down for decades, we can repair and rejuvenate your jewelry, preserving its character and enhancing its beauty for future generations.
Visit us today to learn how we can help you restore your cherished memories and keep them shining for years to come.

Jewelry Restoration FAQ
What is jewelry restoration?
Jewelry restoration involves returning a damaged or worn piece of jewelry to its original appearance and condition. This process can include services such as polishing, repairing broken components, re-setting gemstones, or replacing missing parts. Restoration is ideal for vintage or sentimental pieces that you want to preserve or enhance.
How is jewelry restoration different from jewelry repair?
While both processes address issues with jewelry, restoration focuses on a complete overhaul to return the piece to its original state or improve its beauty.
Repairs, on the other hand, are typically targeted fixes, such as mending a broken chain or retipping prongs. Restoration often includes multiple repairs combined with polishing and aesthetic enhancements.
What types of jewelry can you restore?
We can restore a wide range of jewelry types, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, and more. Whether your piece is made from gold, platinum, silver, or set with gemstones, we have the expertise to handle it with care.
Will restoring my jewelry change its original appearance?
Restoring your jewelry will help bring it back to its original appearance and form.
How long does the jewelry restoration process take?
The timeframe for restoration depends on the complexity of the work needed.
Most restorations are exhaustive projects by nature. With this in mind, timeframes can vary from a few weeks to even longer, depending on what’s needed. To get a more accurate estimation of timelines, it’s best to get in touch with our team.
Why should I choose Takohl for jewelry restoration?
At Takohl, we specialize in creating custom jewelry pieces from the ground up, giving us an unparalleled understanding of jewelry and its many intricate parts. This expertise lends itself perfectly to our restoration services, where we bring old, worn, or damaged pieces back to life.

Can you restore a piece that's missing parts?
Absolutely!
Missing stones, broken clasps, snapped shanks, and damaged prongs are all things we can rebuild. If you have an old photo of the piece, bring it, as it helps us match the original design. Don’t fret if you don’t have one, though.
Our designer, Tammy Kohl, is an award-winning specialist in custom jewelry design. She’s intimately familiar with the creation of pieces from the ground up.

Do you restore costume or plated jewelry?
We work in gold, silver, and platinum, so most costume pieces aren’t something we can restore. Plated pieces are typically made of base metals, which we can not work with.
If a sentimental piece falls into that category, there’s another route.
We can recreate it in fine metal, or use it as the starting point for a redesign through our re.gem.er.a.tion® process.
Should I restore an heirloom I never wear, or have it redesigned?
It really depends on you and what you want. With most heirlooms, though, both avenues are possible.
If you value the piece itself, the way it looks and the heritage behind it, restoration keeps everything intact.
If you value the stones, the metal it’s made out of, and the story rather than the styling, redesigning it turns it into something you’ll actually enjoy while helping preserve its sentiments.
